There’s something aesthetically pleasing about an unfinished sketch. Sometimes a half drawing looks better than a full one. I’ve always liked taking pictures of the process so it’s time to inflict this urge on others!
Somewhat wonky attempts at friends and relatives here from 2019. After a couple of re-draws, I did eventually cobble together something that I liked from this.
Drawn sometime in 2020, after Star Trek Discovery Season 2 had aired. I’ve always liked Spock, and this was meant to be a collection of all the versions and all the actors who had ever portrayed Spock on screen, but I only ended up with two. This was, partly, to blame on bearded Spock and my inability to draw beards.
Sorry about the yellow lighting on this one. Here’s Mr. Robot! I have a complete (and much better) drawing of this bad boy you can see here. With this one, I was going for a more sketchy, incomplete look so it kinda works? I did it all in pen without any pencil lines which is why there’s that smudge above his glasses frame where I realised I’d drawn it wrong and attempted to disguise it. Oops.
*sighs. Okay, I was really obsessed with Mr. Robot around 2020. Actually, I think the obsession started in 2019 and lasted for a good two years. This was supposed to be a watercolour and acrylic painting of a scene from season 3, episode 1. As you can see, it’s not exactly…good. I was really hung up on this scene for a while because I pinpoint it as the exact moment I became obsessed with the show. Until this scene, I was enjoying it fine – but this moment is where Angela (on the left) and Mr Robot (the right), meet for the first time (that we know of). Their steady, yet distrusting reaction to each other made the two of them massively more interesting… And I’m going to stop before I go on a tangent. I have a whole other blog for that.
Who’s that? Just kidding, you already know. Look, they’re on my camera reel, okay? I have to dump them somewhere, what do you think this is?
See, it’s not all Mr. Robot! Here’s a dragon! Mixed media – began with just water colour paint, but I later added pen and markers to fill in some of the finer details. His feet are weird as hell.
Annnnd that’s all for now folks!
